So many options for ice creams. 😍

Among all, the special ones are durian flavour and cempedak flavour. They may sound really weird or awful but do give them a try! You will love it!

Antipodean Cafe @ Atria Shopping Gallery, Damansara Jaya

As Atria Shopping Gallery was renovated recently, we thought it'd be a great idea to check it out and venture out somewhere a little further than Subang. There were a lot of new restaurants and cafes in the newly renovated mall, and when we saw it, we knew we had to try it.
(Taken from:https://www.facebook.com/193228497372527/photos/pb.193228497372527.-2207520000.1442510116./1037623216266380/?type=3&theater)

We knew we had to try it as this cafe is pretty famous in the Klang Valley, with 4 outlets already (Mid Valley, Menara Tan & Tan, & Jalan Telawi), and was voted as one of the top 100 cafes in Malaysia in 2014.

Their menu in each of their outlet are drawn out on blackboards, so customers may want to have good look at the menu first before sitting down. And on a side note, the outlet in Mid Valley is outdoor and the menu may suffer from the sun's glare which affects visibility so do keep that in mind. Other than that, their breakfast items are offered all day and are considered as the best selling items.

The Big Breakfast at RM22 is a pretty good deal, with bacon, mushrooms, and scrambled eggs aplenty. Again, eggs need some salt but the rest of it is pretty good. Their bacon is a little different, opting for a softer texture instead of the usual crispy fried bacon.

We do not know much about their coffee apart from the fact that it is imported from Indonesia. However, being in the top 100 cafes in Malaysia, their coffee certainly lives up to their standards. Low acidity, medium strength and a full bodied flavour makes our money worth for this cup of cappuccino (RM9).

So, does this cafe live up to the hype? The Hungry Squad says yes. With a wide selection of food, great coffee and even wine during dinner time, this cafe is must try for those who like brunch. The service is good too with moderate serving times even during busy hours.

The Owls Cafe @ Bukit Jalil

Have you been owls cafe before?  Yes.  Today, I will be bringing you to the Owls Cafe which located at Bukit Jalil.  It is my first time to been here and I feel so surprised.  Although it is quite famous but I does not expected that there were so crowded, especially weekend.  So, as I recommended, if you would like to visit this cafe, please come earlier to grab your table or else will ended up queuing at the staircase.  By the way, I ended up queuing half an hour and waiting the staff called my name to be served.  While waiting for the call, they had prepare a water for their customer who waiting.   And finally, I call to be seated but is sharing table with others.

Most of the people sitting there enjoy their food and chit chat around even they have finished their food.  Maybe because of that, we have to queue up at staircase.  However, back to their decor, they have emphasis on their theme "owl".  How? Their wall is very attractive; white wall with fancy color owl's drawing.  Besides that, the shop full decorates with the miniatures and collection of owls.

After been seated, we have to order the food first at counter.  Based on their recommendation, we went for Rebecca and slide of cake-The Lady.  The waffle and cake name quite special, I liked it.

This is Rebecca, cost me RM18.  The waffle covered with blueberries, slide of strawberries and banana, and sprinkle of almond and coconut flakes, mapple syrup and their home-made earl grey ice-cream which I found the taste was unique but I think not everyone will like the taste.  However, the overall combination is good.  Rebecca waffle is one of the bestseller among Queen and David waffle as I think because most of the table was ordered Rebecca instead of others.   The waffle is fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. Some people's waffle served in round shape but mine is in flower shape.  It is look nicer.

Another order is The lady cost RM13.00.  The plate was with the art drawing of owls.  Do you think the art look like owls?  Maybe it is.  The taste is full with flower scent and no too sweet however, this cake a bit dry.  I think when eat this cake need accompany with a cup of coffee.

They not only sell the waffle, cake and coffee, there also selling the brunch and breakfast set. I had miss out the brunch time.  In nutshell, I definitely will be back to try their others waffles and the brunch menu.

Minamotonoya Cafe@ Sri Petaling

Last few months, I saw a lot of facebook friends posting Minamotonoya Cafe's food.  So, I decided try it today.  While I find the location that share in the facebook which located at Glass City-Bandar Sri Petaling, I couldn't find it because they had move to another area since June.  However, I used around 15 minutes, finally I found the shop.   There had limited parking lots.  If you wish to find a parking place, need depends on your luck.  And today, I got that luck, I found a parking where the person remove his car at the same time.

When the time I visited the shop, there does not have much customers.  Besides, the decoration of the shop is simple and makes people feel comfy.  Minamotonoya Cafe had a limited menu comparing of coffee, tea, dessert and main courses such as spaghetti, burger and rice.  So, from the limited choice of food and drink, my family and I had order Shimeji Mushrooms Pesto Spaghetti, Egg with Jelly Furikake Don and Bacon Egg Sandwiches as ourmain courses, Mizu mochi as our dessert and lastly our drinks, Passion Fruit Mojito and Matcha Latte.  I could say their food portion is quite small.  If you are in hungry situation, you should order few main courses to satisfy your tummy.

Shimeji Mushrooms Pesto Spaghetti which cost RM15.90.  A pasta dish cooked with shimeji mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and feel like vegetable sources.  For me, the pasta is a little plain.  i think i does not like this pasta much.    However, I still finished it because I can't waste it.

Second dish is Egg with Jelly Furikake Don, cost RM14.90.  After my sister tastes it, I feel funny what she said about this dish.  She said my mom fried rice is better than this.  This is because the taste of this Don is very light and simple, just like rice mix with soy sauces, egg and the jelly furikake.    I think the special on this dish is their jelly furikake.  It will melt when mix with the hot rice.

The last main course for us is the.  Compare to previous two main courses, I will prefer to order this sandwich in next visit.  An unassuming sandwich is made up with 2 slides of homemade ciabatta bun, homemade smoked bacon, fried egg, salad and mayonnaise dressing.   I like the homemade fluffy ciabatta bun.

Mizu Mochi-RM6.90.  Everyone visit the cafe mostly craving for this dessert.  It is basically s tasteless jelly topped with a bit of caramel sauce, brown sugar and soy bean powder.  Besides, the Mizu Mochi place on a plate with unique design which show some creative appearances.  The taste was normal and I found difficulty while scoop the jelly.

Lastly, our drink order which are Passion Fruit Mojito-RM15.90 and Matcha Latte-RM9.90.

As conclude for this, although it may be a good place for discussion or hang out, but maybe is not a good place for lunch or dinner.  You may give a try on others beverage as well.

Whisk Espresso Bar & Cake Shop @ Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya

In the corner of Empire Shopping Gallery, lies this small cafe in front of Jaya Grocer. Whisk Espresso Bar may seem small, but do not let it's size deceive you. For it makes up for its small seating capacity with its quality products.
(Taken from: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWcCfb4CEgzUI5YAZPxnuq8y_yAiZgS-CODYgVM8QvW8qt6OnV5iCwUSeoJAhLI8xx-NFkoieTaIEaoPf6dKl2S_7O5ByUk7WzLFDyUNU948xrIJt3RjRoJwuXJt5ovMMNoOewQC_IDls/s1600/IMG_0782+%25282%2529.jpg)

They do not sell any brunch items such as other cafes mentioned before but they do have a variety of
cakes to choose from. Notable ones are: salted caramel chocolate cake, red velvet, and hummingbird.

We wanted to try their hummingbird cake as it was one of their cakes which they are famous for but unfortunately they ran out, so we went for the moist chocolate cake instead. And, when we took our
first
bite we knew we would not be disappointed.
Well, apart from having the right moisture, the chocolate taste it contained was out of this world.
The cake and the icing both had great chocolate
taste which did not taste artificial by any means.
We all agreed it was the best chocolate cake we
have ever tried.

Although this cafe may be small and seems to offer very little, it makes up for its limited selection by ensuring the few products it offers are exceptional. Tired after a day of shopping in Empire Shopping Gallery? Well, the Hungry Squad thinks this place would be ideal for resting your legs and grabbing a slice and a cuppa to recuperate before continuing your shopping spree.

Flingstones Cafe @ SS15, Subang Jaya

After we got bored of Sunway, we decided to venture out a little further. Those living in Subang Jaya would probably know that SS15 is another place famous for cafes. Right opposite Taylor's University, we stumbled upon this little cafe called Flingstones. It looked pretty attractive from the outside so we decided to give it a go.
(Taken From: http://en.yelp.my/biz_photos/flingstones-cafe-subang-jaya?select=ryg-gKhL7MwqZSR708FB-w)

As we entered, we were greeted warmly by the servers at the counter. The interior is pretty well lit and decorated with wooden tables and metal chairs. Typical cafe decor.

After taking a good look at the menu, we decided to order the "Big Bang Breakfast", an iced chocolate, and a "Mint & Lime Sparkling". The breakfast was pretty huge so we decided to share it. Overall, it is pretty good, most of the food on it were well seasoned with the exception of the eggs, but a little salt did the trick.

They did give us a loyalty card, which entitles us to a free latte after buying 10 drinks. The validity of the card though is a little funny, stating: Valid till someone eat this card.

Overall, this cafe did not disappoint. Good food and beverages, warm service, the typical comfort we seek in cafes, what more can we ask for?

A Pie Thing @ Sunway

Today, let's not talk about the usual boring ordinary cafes, let me bring you to something new and of course very delicious. 😝

Eating pies is not something very common in Malaysia. In fact, it is totally something new to most of us as we do not usually come across pies in our countries especially savoury pies / meat pies.

A Pie Thing is a new cool cafe which brings you all kinds of pies that you can and cannot think of, be it sweet or savoury.

Taken from A Pie Thing Facebook

In A Pie Thing, they serve savoury pies / meat pies: Chunky Steak / Pulled Lamb / Chicken & Mushroom / Creamy Spinach / Chilli Cheese / Green Curry Fish etc.

There are 3 layers of toppings: Mash, Peas and Gravy. However, you can choose your topping according to your own liking.

Beside serving savoury pies, they also have dessert pies / sweet pies such as Peanut Butter Brownie, Apple Crumble, Lemon Curd etc. and the most popular one - S'mores Pie.

Crumbly base filled with warm chocolate fillings, topped with marshmallows and baked until golden brown on top. Tell me how can you resist of not ordering this! Take a bite of it, the warm and ooey gooey chocolate fillings and marshmallows! Slightly crunchy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Oh I just died 😋

Zang Toi's West 57th St. Cafe @ Pavilion KL

Many of us have heard of the name of our famous local fashion designer, Zang Toi. However, not many of us actually know that he has his own cafe located inside Parkson in Pavilion KL. The name of the cafe is called Zang Toi's West 57th St. Cafe or more known as Zang Toi cafe.

The environment of the cafe is designed into a very chic, elgant and glamorous concept. There are a lots of extravagant mirrors being hung all around as displays to symbolic of Zang Toi's fashion style.

The menu in this cafe not only has Asian and Malaysian food but also has some American-Malaysian fusion food choices.

Butter + Bean @ OUG

Is the week that has to finish up some assignment although having a mid-semester break.  And today, I will choose a place to do my assignment in a relaxing way.  So I planned to go Butter + Beans cafe which located nearby OUG's morning market.  I could say that the place was quite easy to find but hard to find a parking lot because the parking lots is limited.   Most of the time, the parking lots used by the staffs who works at the area.  Anyway, I have my own way to park my baby car.

Picture Credited by Cindy's Planet

Butter + Beans operate in an open concept.  They show variety of bread, pastries and cakes were you can see clearly through the transparent glasses.  Besides that, the shop was seemed artistic and you can saw the bear motif everywhere.

Here only serve light food.  Thus I just order a cup of dink and a piece of croissant.  How I order the food?  Just pick the bread that I want and make payment.  Sit back and wait for my croissant and coffee to be served.  While waiting, I started my do my assignment.  The comfy environment make me feel relax while doing my assignment.

After 15 minutes, my food was here - hot mocha and croissant.  The mocha was pretty dark and no too sweet which is one of my favourite.  Normally, a hot cup of coffee with love shape art, but the art of mocha that I drink that day was look nice and seems like a swan.  I satisfy with it.  The price for this cup of mocha cost me RM7.90.  I think it was a reasonable price for nowadays beverage.  However, I spent my time at there for more than one hours, the drink was get cold easily.  This could be one of the things that I dislike.

Follow by croissant which cost around RM3 to RM5. I forgot the exact price.   The croissant was not meet my expectation.  Although the croissant with intensely buttery and a natural dairy sweetness but it lack of crispness.  So, maybe I will try their others pastry next time instead of their croissant.

This is a nice place for afternoon teas and hangs out.  Especially if you want find someplace that is silent enough.  I mostly completed one of my assignment there.  Hurray!!!  However, the place is a little compact when there were customers kept flowing in.  I really wish that they can expand the cafe.

Selfie Coffee @ Bandar Sunway

Okay okay, we get it. Enough of cafes from Sunway. We're getting tired of it too. But, since this cafe has the word selfie in it, the Hungry Squad thought it might be worth a go.
(Taken from: http://secret-spices.blogspot.com/2015/05/selfie-coffee-sunway-malaysia.html)

(Taken from: http://en.yelp.my/biz/selfie-coffee-petaling-jaya)

What immediately came to us when we entered this cafe was how quiet it was. There were only a handful of customers as we entered the premise, despite the place looking clean, decent, and somewhat charming, whatever the reason, this cafe is just quiet. That being said, the interior of this cafe is actually pretty decent. Light bulbs hanging from above illuminating the interior of the cafe, artificial hedging around the walls, this cafe would be a great spot for socialising, its quietness being another factor.

So, what is special about the cafe? While they do offer a few types of cakes and pastries, what truly lies in this cafe is their coffee, with a twist. After ordering your cup of coffee, you may opt to...well, take a selfie of course. For those of you who do not know what a selfie is, it is the act of one taking a picture of oneself. While the act has a slight hint of vanity to it, the coffee offered here will probably make the customers a little more narcissistic than usual. So, after taking your selfie, they will take the selfie you took, and print it on your coffee. Sounds bizarre? We were surprised too. The end result is a picture of yourself on the coffee foam. Do not be alarmed however, the cafe has assured all their customers that their products are 100% safe to consume. We were too shy on that day to take a selfie, however an example can be seen below.
(Taken from: https://www.facebook.com/selfiecoffee/photos/pb.255493471308526.-2207520000.1442503473./293183867539486/?type=3&theater)

The Hungry Squad's final verdict on this cafe: While their coffee offered are interesting, the lack of food items might be the cause for their solitude. As students around this area are looking for a good meal apart from just coffee. So, for people looking forward to "drinking themselves", then this cafe will live up to your expectation. Other than that, don't get your hopes up on this cafe.
