Located right across the university, it stands out among other shoplots and workshops with its colourful graffiti on the side. But, upon entering, it is a different story. Its name: Garage 51, is fairly unique. The Choong brothers (owners and certified baristas) came up with the name as the lot's number was 51 and it was previously a garage before being converted to a cafe.

White walls, light bulbs hanging from the ceiling, and wooden tables combine together to give the cafe a modern rustic look.

The baristas and servers are rather friendly and approachable as they greet customers who walk in with a warm smile and a sincere welcome.

The speed of service in this cafe is generally decent, but do expect your food or drinks to arrive a little slower during lunch hours.

That, and combined with their new lunch menu which is offered at only RM10nett from Tuesday to Friday, the lunch crowds can get a little out of hand at times.

Their menu ranges from brunch items such as Eggs Atlantic, croissants, smoked salmon on bagels, to desserts such as cakes and different items being offered after six such as pastas and even grilled lamb. One of their famous items on the menu would be their smoked salmon bagel. Their salmon are fresh consistently and the bagel goes well with it, at a cost of RM18.

As for their coffee, they are renowned for using the a special blend called "The Societe Blend". This blend is comprised of only the finest Arabica beans which originates from South and Central America along with some parts of Asia-Pacific. Combine this blend with medium roasting, their coffee produced are well balanced in terms of strength and acidity. One of their specialty is their "Mochatella", which are frozen ice cubes made from coffee, served with nutella and hot milk. The idea here is to let the hot milk melt the coffee cubes with the nutella and the resulting mixture is just exquisite, and it is reasonably priced at RM15.

To wrap it up, great coffee, relaxing atmosphere, friendly service and good food sums up what Garage 51 really is. Located across a university teeming with activity, Garage 51 shows other cafes what being a great cafe is all about.
